Become A Guest Writer
At 501Connect, we believe that sharing knowledge and inspiring others are essential components of social responsibility, so we welcome and value guest writers.
If you are a Not For Profit Professional or Service Provider, this is an opportunity to establish yourself as an expert in your field by sharing knowledge with the St. Louis Community.
Our only pre-requisite: the subject matter relates to the nonprofit sector and is clearly written.
- Article must be original work written for 501Connect and must remain exclusive to 501Connect for two weeks before reprint/republication by other media outlets.
- Article must be non-promotional in nature, but advocacy is fine.
- Article must adhere to minimum editorial and formatting standards.
- Guest writers are unpaid.
In exchange for sharing your expertise, we will include the following with your article:
- Links to your Linkedin profile
- "About the Author" block quotation on the full article page
- Promotion of your article on Twitter & Facebook
- Links for readers to share articles on all the top social media platforms and via email
- Articles will be included in the 501Connect News RSS feed

At 501Connect, we believe that sharing knowledge and inspiring others are essential components of social responsibility, so we welcome and value guest writers. This is an opportunity to enhance your online presence and establish yourself as an expert in your field. Our only pre-requisite: the subject matter relates to the nonprofit sector and is clearly written.
Our readers are individuals with a passion for community service and a vested interest in the Not For Profit sector: nonprofit professionals, philanthropists, donors, volunteers, students, board members, corporate sponsors, service providers and others.
Site patrons utilizing our resources are:
- Not For Profit Organizations…
• in need of goods or services supplied by vendors who specialize in serving the nonprofit sector
• with available employment, volunteer or board member opportunities
• promoting upcoming events
• showing appreciation and acknowledging their stakeholders by posting photos of recent events
- Community members seeking services provided by nonprofit organizations
- Individuals seeking employment, volunteer or board member opportunities
- Students looking for service opportunities or assistance with philanthropic endeavors
- Community members interested in upcoming charity events and viewing photos of previous events
- Donors, sponsors & others who research not for profits in St. Louis
What type of writers are we looking for?
We are looking for writers of varied backgrounds who have knowledge, experience, opinions or expertise to share with the St. Louis Not For Profit community. This includes students, Not For Profit managers, volunteers, service providers, etc., as well as professional writers and journalists. Our only pre-requisite: the subject matter relates to the nonprofit sector and is clearly written.
What type of articles are we looking for?
We are looking for articles that inform, enlighten and inspire. Below you will find examples of the types of articles that we consider, but we are always open to new ideas and suggestions.
The types of articles we publish include:
- Articles that educate*
- Human interest pieces (stories of those in need or good will stories)
- Organization profiles (St. Louis Not For Profit organizations or organizations that serve them)
- Profiles of people (Philanthropists, Not For Profit professionals, service providers, volunteers)
- First person articles ("My Mission Trip Experience")
- Any article that will enrich lives by inspiring community involvement, giving and social responsibility
*Typical subject matter includes fundraising, capacity building, government, management, marketing, technology (i.e. how nonprofits can benefit from new media, Web 2.0 and social sites), human interest, nonprofit organizations, people, philanthropy, regulatory, volunteerism and anything that relates to the nonprofit sector.
We do not have specific requirements about writing style and length. We appreciate each writer’s unique style and subject matter will dictate article length. However, we suggest your article be as clear and concise as possible.
