Hubbard St. Louis Radio Group’s 106.5 The Arch is proud to announce the local St. Louis area winners of the U.S. Bank “Businesses Are Looking Up” Program – a grassroots effort that supports and recognizes small businesses and not-for-profit organizations across the country.
The overall St. Louis business winner is the G & W Meat & Bavarian Style Sausage Company, located at 4828 Parker Avenue in St. Louis. They will receive a $5,000 advertising package to promote their business on 106.5 The Arch, courtesy of U.S. Bank.
In addition, G & W Meat received a companion $5,000 advertising package to donate to their favorite charity – the St. Louis Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association – all courtesy of program partners U.S. Bank and 106.5 The Arch.
Mel Wanninger, who is part of the ownership/management team from G & W Meat & Bavarian Style Sausage Company, comments, “As a long-time family-owned small business, this generous advertising package from U.S. Bank and 106.5 The Arch will enable us to expand our company’s growth and continue to add new employees.”
Wanninger adds, “And because our business buys ingredients and materials from local vendors – so that we can supply our variety of products to area retailers, restaurants and venues like Grants Farm and Gus’ Pretzels – this advertising package will also help us to boost the local St. Louis economy.”
Through the “Businesses Are Looking Up” program, U.S. Bank is recognizing local companies and their employees who are making their communities a better place to work and live.
Approximately 100 small businesses in the St. Louis metro area applied for the recognition program through the “Better Business Break” promotion on 106.5 The Arch, the exclusive radio station in St. Louis to partner with U.S. Bank.
During the 17 week promotion, 106.5 The Arch selected a local area business from the company submissions to receive a weekly "Better Business Break" with cupcakes from St. Louis’ own Food Network Cupcake Wars winning bakery, Jilly’s Cupcake Bar® & Café. And each month, one small business was selected to receive a catered lunch from Cyrano's restaurant for up to 25 employees, along with a two-minute video profile featured on the U.S. Bank “Businesses Are Looking Up” microsite located on The Arch’s website at 1065thearch.com.
G & W Meat’s charity recipient – the Alzheimer’s Association – was equally excited about receiving their companion award from the U.S. Bank “Businesses Are Looking Up” program. According to Communications/Marketing Coordinator Sara Krenski, “We would like to thank G & W Meats, U.S. Bank and 106.5 The Arch for helping lead the fight against the Alzheimer’s epidemic. We are so grateful to have this wonderful opportunity to increase the momentum of the Alzheimer’s disease movement.”
Krenski notes, “This (advertising package) will help build awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and the comprehensive programs and services available through the Alzheimer’s Association St. Louis Chapter. With more than five million Americans currently living with Alzheimer’s disease, this increase of awareness may potentially lead to earlier diagnosis which may significantly change the experience of Alzheimer’s for people and their families living with the disease.”
“106.5 The Arch is extremely business-friendly, from both the music format and advertiser standpoint. U.S. Bank’s program and our ‘Better Business Break’ promotion were the perfect match for both the awareness and traffic-building features we offer to small company owners, as well as the community-oriented support we provide to not-for-profit organizations,” remarked John Kijowski, Hubbard St. Louis’ Vice President and Market Manager.
U.S. Bank’s Senior Vice President and Regional Manager - St. Louis Business Banking Sandy McCandless commented on the success of the St. Louis region’s program. “As one of the top small business lenders in St. Louis, we are committed to getting capital into the hands of small businesses to help get our economy back on track again.” He adds, “106.5 The Arch was the ideal radio station to partner with, in helping to get U.S. Bank’s message out that businesses matter to us, because the station is particularly strong among adult listeners who tune in while at the office.”
McCandless concludes, “As one of the pilot ‘Businesses Are Looking Up’ programs across the country, 106.5 The Arch’s ‘Better Business Break” promotion in St. Louis was a homerun for U.S. Bank, because it weaved in a grassroots effort of reaching out and supporting businesses in the area.”
