HavenHouse St. Louis Recipient of Mutual Of America 2011 Community Partnership Award

Mutual of America announced today that HavenHouse St. Louis Family Centered Care was named one of ten recipients of the 2011 Community Partnership Award competition.
HavenHouse St. Louis Family Centered Care provides lodging, care and support for lower-income patients and families traveling more than 25 miles to St. Louis for medical care. For a small fee per night, families receive a private room, two home-cooked meals a day, transportation to and from area hospitals and other vital services. HavenHouse also helps patients coming to St. Louis for longer-term medical treatment. HavenHouse's partners include YouthBridge Community Foundation, local hospitals and medical centers, and various businesses and organizations.
"HavenHouse exists because every person deserves a healthy life, the best medical treatment possible and an affordable place to stay, even when treatment takes them away from home," says Kathy Sindel, executive director for HavenHouse.
HavenHouse served more than 8,100 individuals – including 3,046 patients, most of whom were children – during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011.
