St. Louis celebrities raised $75,000 in “tips” at the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery’s 20th annual Celebrity Waitresses’ & Waiters’ Night held August 19 at Plaza Frontenac. Local celebrities from radio, TV and print media joined politicians and business leaders from the region to support the Crisis Nursery’s 24-hour safe-haven nurseries and child abuse and neglect prevention programs.
Celebrities served and entertained more than 800 guests at Canyon Café and Cardwell’s on the Plaza raising the funds through tips. Adjacent restaurant, Fleming’s Steak House, raised funds by selling wine, a signature martini and desserts. Canyon Cafe owner Doug Czufin flew in from Colorado to co-host the party. Chef Bill Cardwell and manager Toni Collins of Cardwell’s on the Plaza joined forces with Canyon Cafe’s Chef Sandra Banchs and managers Laura Moulder and Dan O’Leary to support the event.
The Celebrity Server of the Year was David Kowach of Wells Fargo Advisors, who raised $8,250. Don Gerber of Gerber Chapel and Jim Theiss of Centric raised the second and third largest amounts.
