David Krauss is a partner with The Stolar Partnership LLP and co-chairs the firm's Nonprofit Organizations practice group. While David represents a number of for-profit business clients, he finds his work with nonprofit organizations to be a rewarding and challenging part of his practice. David represents charitable, religious and educational institutions in a variety of areas and has particular expertise on the following topics: 403(b), 457(b) and 457(f) deferred compensation plans; fringe benefits for nonprofit organizations; "Social Entrepreneurship" issues promoting long-term growth within a mission-driven atmosphere; good governance and best practices for boards and board members; nonprofit tax audits; ancillary joint ventures; unrelated business taxable income; socially responsible investing within a nonprofit organization; philanthropy – meeting the needs of donor and charity; campaign election and advocacy rules for nonprofits; and executive compensation audits. Given his expertise with nonprofits, David has been called upon to lecture at the Skandalaris Center, the Incarnate Word Foundation, Deaconess Foundation Washington University in St. Louis and Webster University on topics relating to social entrepreneurship, board governance and best practices in nonprofit management. For the past several years, David and his partners have taught the Washington University Graduate Program in Nonprofit Management. Outside of his law practice, David spent nine years serving on the Board of Education of the Clayton School District and today serves on the Board of Directors for the Gateway Center for Giving.
