The Good People for Good Shepherd campaign recognizes that when finances are tight and needs are great, a little help from a lot of people will make things happen. Marketing Committee Chair Rosie Ford explains, “Good Shepherd is doing work critical to the social mission of our church and, while we always need money, real things happen for kids and families when people who care reach out.”The mission of Good Shepherd is to connect children with family and keep families connected. Services cover a complete continuum of care with preventative programs to keep at-risk families intact, foster care and residential services for children who have been removed from unsafe homes and adoption and mentoring services to solidify family permanency. Through the Good People for Good Shepherd campaign, Good Shepherd hopes to find people who care about kids and are willing to offer some amount of time to help them. Executive Director Peggy Slater says, “We welcome everyone with an hour here or there to spare. And if you don’t have time to volunteer, we’re also recruiting Prayer Warriors!” Opportunities include serving on a committee, baking, babysitting, answering phones, filing, writing, designing, mentoring, tutoring, event planning, baby showers, diaper drives, sharing a hobby with residents, and cooking meals for foster parents.
